Karriereportal Kerntechnik Highlights

Since 2023, the Nuclear Career Portal has brought students, doctoral candidates and companies into direct conversation with one another. The trailers show the previous stops of the event series, from the launch in Aachen to the most recent edition in Gelsenkirchen. Based on feedback from participating companies, more than 100 participants have already found concrete career opportunities through the past events, including jobs, internships, thesis projects and other entry-level opportunities.

Outlook Biblis 2026: The Next Stop

The next Nuclear Career Portal will take place on 14 November 2026 in Biblis. The location has a unique connection to operational experience, decommissioning, waste management, safety and knowledge preservation. For students, Biblis offers the opportunity to experience nuclear technology in practice at a site of outstanding historical and technical significance. Transportation is provided, with a shuttle bus bringing participants directly to the venue from Frankfurt and Darmstadt.

Gelsenkirchen 2026: A Personal and Focused Experience

At the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences in Gelsenkirchen, the Nuclear Career Portal offered an especially personal atmosphere, with short distances and plenty of opportunities for direct conversations. The programme focused on developing young talent, the personal career journey of a project manager, research and collaborative projects, the Competence.Hub, the Young Generation of the KTG and the Career Compass.

Aachen 2025: A Strong Return with a Special Guest

The return to FH Aachen was one of the most highly attended events in the series. The participating companies met almost 100 students. In addition to FORKA, digital onboarding, KTG, career paths and the Career Compass, science YouTuber Simon Obrusnik joined the event as a special guest, bringing additional visibility to science communication and outreach to young talent.

Dresden 2025: New Region, Deep Expertise

With Dresden, the Career Portal came to Saxony for the first time. The event at TU Dresden connected companies from decommissioning, waste management, engineering, inspection and radiation protection with a technically strong university region. The Insider Insights covered topics such as the KTG, digital onboarding, the Master’s programme “Safety in Nuclear Waste Management” and the Career Compass.

Bochum 2024: A Major Industry Gathering at the EBZ

With 17 participating companies, the event at the EBZ in Bochum showcased the broadest range of expertise in the series to date, covering nuclear fuel, decommissioning, waste management, radiation protection, engineering, inspection and interim storage. A particular highlight was the two-part Insider Insights programme featuring contributions from the KTG, Copenhagen Atomics, ENEN2plus and the Competence.Hub. Since this event, participants have also had the chance to win the Nuclear Excellence Coaching programme.

Aachen 2024: Career Orientation at FH Aachen

The event at FH Aachen placed an even stronger emphasis on personal career orientation. In addition to company pitches and one-to-one discussions, the programme covered academic pathways, FORKA, KERNTec, application tips and the Career Compass. A special highlight was the raffle for an exclusive technical tour of URENCO, including access to restricted operational areas.

Bochum 2023: The Format Grows at Ruhr University Bochum

At Ruhr University Bochum, the initial concept developed into a repeatable career format. Application tips, the Master’s programme “Safety in Nuclear Waste Management”, FORKA, ENEN2plus and the Young Generation of the KTG showed how diverse career paths in nuclear technology can be. A highlight was the exclusive technical tours to Krantz and Iqony Nuclear Technologies.

Aachen 2023: The Launch at SuperC

With the first edition at the SuperC of RWTH Aachen, the Nuclear Career Portal was launched as a new platform for direct exchange between young talent and the nuclear industry. Company pitches, one-to-one discussions and funding programmes such as ENEN2plus, IAEA initiatives and KTG activities formed the foundation of the event. A special highlight was the exclusive technical tours to Westinghouse, Advanced Nuclear Fuels and JEN.
